PYRIMIDINIUM YLIDES .8. THE SYNTHESIS AND CHARACTERIZATION OF NEW PYRROL[1,2-C]PYRIMIDINE DERIVATIVES

There are described new pyrrolo[1,2-c]pyrimidine compounds obtained by the 1,3-dipolar cycloaddition reactions of 4-phenylpyrimidinium-ylide s with dipolarophyles such as 1-butyn-3-one and ethylphenylpropyolate. The 4-phenylpyrimidinium-ylides generated from the corresponding 4-ph enylpyrimidinium quaternary salts in the presence of an oxirane react with the acetylenic compounds. The structures of these new pyrrolo[1,2 -c]pyrimidine derivatives were confirmed by elemental analysis, IR, H- 1-NMR and C-13-NMR.
