Abstract
1,5-Hydrogen atom transfer from alpha, beta and gamma carbons of cycloalkan ones to an alkenyl or aryl radical on a side chain has been studied systema tically. Deuterium labeling experiments and theoretical calculations were u sed to delineate this process. The results indicate that 1,5-hydrogen atom transfer is controlled mostly by conformational factors.
