Abstract
The superconducting properties of materials of layered structure containing copper and other metal oxides are compared with the expectations of a rece ntly proposed electron pairing model [1]. The role of the oxygen content of samples is emphasized. Evidence is found showing that superconduction is o riginated only in presence of coupled layers of metal oxides holding unpair ed electrons.
