Dw. Lamb et al., OPERATIVE CORRECTION OF RADIAL CLUB HAND - A LONG-TERM FOLLOW-UP OF CENTRALIZATION OF THE HAND ON THE ULNA, Journal of hand surgery. British volume, 22B(4), 1997, pp. 533-536
We have reviewed the clinical and functional results of 21 centralizat
ions for radial club hand in 17 patients, 21 to 31 (mean 27) years aft
er operation. There were 13 associated pollicizations. Although the ul
na was always short, no premature fusions of the distal ulnar epiphysi
s were found, Overall upper limb function was assessed by grip strengt
hs and Moberg and Jebsen tests of manual dexterity and was satisfactor
y, This review emphasizes the important roles of centralization and po
llicization in the surgical management of children with radial absence
