Abstract
The fluid phase behaviour of a two-dimensional binary mixture interacting v ia Lennard-Jones (LJ) potentials is investigated using thermodynamic pertur bation theory (TPT). The reference system uses approximate, but accurate, a nalytic forms for a binary mixture of hard disks of equal diameter. It is a lso assumed that the Lorentz-Berthelot combination rules hold for the unlik e pair interaction. In this work, results are presented for the pressure-te mperature-composition surface for the Type I gas-liquid equilibria-phase di agram. A few points obtained via Gibbs Ensemble Monte Carlo simulations are also presented and compared with theory. (C) 2001 Elsevier Science B.V. Al l rights reserved.
