The efficiency analysis of programs for two-dimensional inversion of magnetotelluric data

A numerically implemented algorithm for 2-D inversion of magnetotelluric an d magnetic variation data, developed by K. Nowozynski at the Institute of G eophysics, Polish Academy of Sciences, is described. A graphical interface is proposed, and test calculations performed with this program are discusse d. The program is analyzed in comparison with other programs that are widel y used in modern magnetotelluric studies, and the effectiveness of the 2-D magnetotelluric interpretation is studied.
