SnO powders with different particle sizes have been examined as hosts for L
ithium insertion and extraction. The finer powder shows a better cycle perf
ormance. The high irreversible capacity of the SnO electrodes in the first
cycle can be compensated by adding Li2.6Co0.4N into the electrodes. The mix
ed-host electrode demonstrates a reversible capacity over 600 mAh/g and goo
d cycling performance. (C) 2001 Elsevier Science B.V. Atl rights reserved.
