Abstract
This paper reports on the electrochemistry of a new series of layered manga nese oxide cathodes for lithium-ion cells. The layered structure is stabili zed by the partial substitution of the manganese by chromium and lithium at oms and by the partial or complete oxidation of the manganese to the +4 oxi dation state. The series covers the range of compositions LixCryMn2-yO4+z f or which 2.2 < x < 4, 0 < y < 2 and z greater than or equal to 0. Crown Cop yright (C) 2001 Published by Elsevier Science B.V.
