Mma. Talpur et al., IR and H-1-NMR investigations for molecular interactions between methyl methacrylate and methylcyanoacetate, J CHEM S P, 22(3), 2000, pp. 217-220
The molecular interactions between methyl methacrylate (MMA) end methyl Cya
noacetate (MCA) has been studied The IR results show lower electron density
fa vinyl a well a fa the carbonyl double bond of methyl methacrylate a the
concentration of methylcyanoacetate increases in the solution The H-1-NMR
data also coinside with the results of IR investigations. These results lea
d to the conclusions that a cyclic structure of MMA-MCA complex is formed b
y the interaction of the oxygen of the carbonyl group and active hydrogen t
om of MCA with methylene group of the vinyl double bond md oxygen of the ca
rbonyl group of the MMA respectively. This cyclic structure facilitate the
abstraction of H alpha atom in MCA by MMA rad formation of transition radic
al which after rearrangement can start the polymerization reaction.
