Abstract
Two neonates who developed total parenteral nutrition ascites after ma I pl ace ment of um bi I ica I venous catheters are described. Paracentesis of t he ascites with bedside comparison of glycemia versus glucose content of th e fluid confirmed the diagnosis. The clinical presentation is described and possible preventive measures are discussed.
