The palladium catalyzed amination of tetraazafulvalenes is described. Start ing from either the tetraalkylated compounds 7 or their vinylogous derivati ves 8. substitution of the aryl bromide by different amines was realized. T he synthesis of compounds which possess four primary amino groups as well a s four hydrazino residues by employing a one-pot, two-step method is also d escribed. Bichromophores are accessible as demonstrated by the introduction of the phenoxazine system into tetraazafulvalenes.
