Abstract
Lithium perchlorate efficiently catalyzes the three-component condensation reaction of aldehyde, beta -keto ester and urea in refluxing acetonitrile t o afford the corresponding dihydropyrimidinones in high yields under neutra l conditional LiOTf is also found to be an efficient catalyst for the synth esis of dihydropyrimidinones from aldehyde, beta -keto eater and urea.
