Ys. Hon et al., Acetonyltriphenylphosphonium bromide and its polymer-supported analogues as catalysts in protection and deprotection of alcohols as alkyl vinyl ethers, TETRAHEDRON, 57(28), 2001, pp. 5991-6001
Both acetonyltriphenylphosphonium bromide (ATPB, 1) and poly-p-styryldiphen
ylacetonylphosphonium bromide (A) were effective catalysts in the protectio
n of alcohols as THP, THF, and EE ethers as well as the cleavage of THP, TH
F, and EE ethers to the corresponding alcohols. They could be applied to 1
degrees, 2 degrees and 3 degrees alcohols, phenol and acid-labile alcohols.
Both ATPB and catalyst A are excellent catalysts in the present study. It
needed only 1x10(-2)-1.25x10(-2) mol equiv. of the polymer-supported cataly
st A in the reactions. (C) 2001 Elsevier Science Ltd. All rights reserved.
