Abstract
We consider the deployment process of a subsatellite from a main satellite on a circular orbit around the earth. The satellites are connected by a mas sless tether. Only by applying a tension force on the cable we want to stee r the subsatellite as fast as possible from the initial position close the the main satellite into its final local vertical position, which for consta nt tether length is a stable relative equilibrium.
