For a crack lying between two dissimilar elastic materials, different model
s of the interphase zone depending on a mechanical feature of the interface
can be considered to avoid such physically unrealistic phenomena appearing
in the ideal interface model as stress oscillation and crack surface inter
penetration [1,2]. The present paper deals with an interphase zone which is
assumed to be of an infinitesimal thickness and is described by special in
terface boundary conditions along the joined materials. Various shapes of t
he zone are taken into account. Asymptotic behaviour of the displacement an
d stress fields near the crack tip under Mode I and II loading is found.
Our aim is to show that asymptotics of the elastic solution near the crack
tip depend in an essential way on the interphase zone shape. We also presen
t results concerning the main exponent of the stress singularity.
