A material model is proposed which captures microstructural changes in two
phase materials with phase transitions. Using a homogenization technique, m
acroscopic material properties are derived. A set of microstructural variab
les is chosen to describe the micro geometry. Approximating the second phas
e as an ellipsoidal inclusion with eigenstrain and interfacial energy the a
ttempt is made to model the micro mechanics rather accurately. Results are
shown for parameters that mimic Nickel base alloys.
