The paper discusses aspects of the pre- and postcritical localization analy
sis for a general class of isotropic non-associative elastoplasticity model
s at finite strains. In order to detect the onset of bifurcation and the cr
itical localization orientation an accompanying localization analysis is pe
rformed. As the simulation within standard formulations of localized failur
e yields the typical mesh-dependent postcritical results, we apply a new re
gularization technique based on the introduction of a micro-structure at ea
ch Gauss-point which bifurcates in the form of an assumed fluctuation field
.
