Abstract
Fracture of piezoelectric ceramics is influenced by polarization switching. For certain conditions, ferroelectric switching involves only a local rota tion of the remanent polarization vector (repolarization). We present an in cremental constitutive law for repolarization, and a finite element of swit ching in the process zone of conducting cracks.
