Abstract
Training of skeletal muscle, as well as thyroid and steroid hormones, stimulates mitochondrial biogenesis, which requires regulation of gene s encoded on nuclear and mitochondrial DNA. Imbalances between energy demand and supply increase mitochondrial gene expression via as yet un known metabolic signals involving transcription factors in the sense o f a negative feedback loop.
