Abstract
The genus Setodes is reported for the first time from Madagascar. Five new species are described. The relationships of this small homogeneous group ar e asiatic. The hypothesis of a colonisation of the island from India is dis cussed. An account of the geographic distribution of the five species is gi ven and in relation to altitude and distance to the source.
