Evaluation of a computer-assisted learning programme on the oro-facial signs of child physical abuse (nonaccidental injury) by general dental practitioners
Rr. Welbury et al., Evaluation of a computer-assisted learning programme on the oro-facial signs of child physical abuse (nonaccidental injury) by general dental practitioners, BR DENT J, 190(12), 2001, pp. 668-670
A computer-assisted learning programme with tutorials and self assessment m
ultiple choice questions has been developed. One hundred and two general de
ntal practitioners were asked to evaluate the programme. Over 80% of respon
dents felt that the programme was easy to use, contained an appropriate lev
el of supporting information, and had improved their knowledge of nonaccide
ntal injury. All users of the programme felt that it was a better way of le
arning than video, audio tapes, and journals or books on the subject. It is
concluded that CAL programmes are worthwhile for providing continuing prof
essional education for general dental practitioners.
