The results of theoretical and experimental investigation of heat tran
sfer and thermal contact resistance during crystallization of an alumi
nium alloy on copper and steel walls are given. It is shown that a ste
el wall, porous in structure, is most effective for removal of maximum
heat fluxes from a melt as the latter is crystallized.
