Abstract
Binding studies of crystal violet on Human Serum Albumin (HSA) and Casein ( CA) were carried out at 25 degreesC. The binding parameters such as amount for maximum monolayer coverage (x(m)), cross sectional surface area, surfac e excess, binding equilibrium constant are determined from the Langmuir lin ear equation best fits. Under higher concentrations of HSA, bound CV induce HSA dimerisation. This effect is not seen for Casein. A substrate sandwich model is attributed for cascadic protein dimerisation. tonic strength effe ct favours CV binding in both the systems. (C) 2001 Elsevier Science B.V. A ll rights reserved.
