Abstract
In 12 (11.8%) of 102 investigated skin samples of broiler carcasses Campylo bacter spp. (10 C. jejuni spp. jeuni and two C. coli) were isolated with cu ltural method. Compared with this, 49 (48%) samples and 43 (42%) samples we re positive using ProSpecT(R) Campylobacter Microplate Assay and PROBELIA(T M) test respectively. The dominant growth of Proteus spp. and Pseudomonas s pp. in these samples makes evaluation of the cultural method difficult. The refore, for a Campylobacter screening in skin samples of broiler carcasses the EIA or the PROBELIA(TM)-test seems to be more suitable.
