Iw. Wilson et al., Quantitative trait loci analysis of powdery mildew disease resistance in the Arabidopsis thaliana accession Kashmir-1, GENETICS, 158(3), 2001, pp. 1301-1309
Powdery mildew diseases are economically important diseases, caused by obli
gate biotrophic fungi of the Erysiphales. To understand the complex inherit
ance of resistance to the powdery mildew disease in the model plant Arabido
psis thaliana, quantitative trait loci analysis was performed using a set o
f recombinant inbred lines derived from a cross between the resistant acces
sion Kashmir-1 and the susceptible accession Columbia glabrous1. We identif
ied and mapped three independent powdery mildew quantitative disease resist
ance loci, which act additively to confer disease resistance. The locus wit
h the strongest effect on resistance was mapped to a 500-kbp interval on ch
romosome III.
