Sy. Belyaev et Ak. Basharin, Modern structure, evolution, and petroleum potential of the zone of junction of the Siberian Platform and West Siberian Plate, GEOL GEOFIZ, 42(4), 2001, pp. 736-745
Based on the available geological and geophysical data, we propose a model
for the Formation of the modern structure of the zone of junction of the Si
berian Platform and West Siberian Plate. This area evolved in five stages.
At the first. Early-Middle Riphean, stage, a volcanosedimentary complex for
med on the continental crust of the Siberian Platform and on the Kas microc
ontinent, separated from the North Asian craton in the early Riphean, betwe
en which there was a basin with oceanic crust. The second stage (about 850
Ma BP) involved collision of the Kas microcontinent, which resulted In obdu
ction of the oceanic formations on the edge of the Siberian Platform, their
crumpling and metamorphism. At the third stage (from Baikalian to Late Car
boniferous), a terrigenous-carbonate-evaporite plate complex formed through
out the study territory. The fourth stage (Late Carboniferous-Early Triassi
c) was related to the closure of the Paleoasian ocean and collision process
es on the western margin of the Kas massif. At the final (Meso-Cenozoic) st
age, a plate complex formed on the left bank of the Yenisei River, and upli
fting of the Yenisei Range and adjacent areas of the Siberian Platform occu
rred.
