E. Jorgensen et al., OIL ANALYSIS WITH RESPECT TO VARIOUS 2-ALKYLATED AND 3-ALKYLATED CIS-BICYCLO[3.3.0]OCTANES, Organic geochemistry, 21(5), 1994, pp. 453-464
A number of oil samples, originating from different types of organic m
atter and different depositional environments, have been analyzed by C
ollision Activated Decomposition GC-MS-MS with respect to a number of
2- and 3-alkyl-substituted cis-bicyclo[3.3.0]octanes. The methylbicycl
o[3.3.0]octanes were found to be more abundant than their homologs. Is
opropyl bicyclooactanes were not detected, and only two of the butyl i
somers were found. The concentration of the alkylbicyclooctanes was de
termined by using synthetic standards of the compounds for identificat
ion and calibration. Correlations of the distribution of the compounds
revealed no significant covariance with organic matter type or maturi
ty.
