Polyimide composites reinforced with whiskers

Polyimide composites reinforced with whiskers were prepared by two methods, a dry method and a wet method. The composites of polyimide exhibit high st rength, high thermal resistance and good wear resistance, comparable to tho se of polyimides. The composites have been compared with other composites o f polyimide filled with glass fibre powder, polytetrafluoroethylene and gra phite. The surface of the composites was studied by scanning electron micro graphy. The composites can be applied in advanced technical fields.
