Abstract
Reactions of [(eta (6)-p-cymene)RuCl2](2), (a), [(eta (6)-p-cymene)Ru(EPh3) Cl-2] (E = P (b) or As (c)} with 4,4 ' -bipyridine yielded bridged complexe s of the type [(eta (6)-p-cymene)RuC12-11-4, 4 ' -bipy-Cl2Ru (eta (6)-p-cym ene)] (1) and [(eta (6)-p-cymene)RuCl-(EPh3)-mu -4,4 ' -bipy-Cl(EPh3)Ru(eta (6)-p-cymene)] {E=P, (2); As, (3)) respectively. Complex (b) with imidazol e in the presence of NaBF4 in methanol gave compound of the type [(eta (6)- p-cymene)Ru(PPh3)(im)Cl]BF4 (4) (im = imidazole). These complexes have been characterized with various spectroscopic techniques.
