Abstract
The Lewis acid catalyzed glycosylation reaction of beta -peracetylated suga r derivatives (xylose) with fatty alkanols is used in a synthesis of C-7-C- 16-alkyl D-xylopyranosides. The process occurs under the influence of tin(I V) chloride.
