Abstract
2-Trifluoromethyl-1,8-naphthyridine-3-carboxylic acid arylidene-hydrazides (acylhydrazones) 2 can be conveniently converted to the corresponding 5-ary l-2-(2-trifluoromethyl-1,8-naphthyridin-3-yl)- 1,3,4-oxadiazoles 3 with iod obenzene diacetate (IBD) under solid state conditions. The reaction proceed s efficiently giving the products in excellent yields at ambient temperatur e.
