The tridentate NSN-donor ligand 5-(3,5-dimethylpyrazol-1-yl)-3-thia-1-penta
neamine (dptpa) renders coordination compounds with halide and nitrate salt
s of divalent cobalt, nickel, copper, and zinc with general formula [M(dptp
a)X-2]. The single-crystal X-ray structure of [Cu(dptpa)(NO3)(2)] shows the
copper ion to be in a distorted square-pyramidal N2SO7 environment of the
tridentate ligand and the two monodentate binding nitrate ions. One of the
nitrate anions is coordinated as semi-didentate, and as such the copper ion
may be regarded to be in a quite distorted octahedral environment. (C) 200
