New Pr and Nd complexes containing TCNQ radicals

New compounds formed by reaction of TCNQ lanthanide complexes containing N- donor Ligands have been obtained. By controlling the reaction conditions, d ifferent compounds of formulae Ln(N-N)(x)(TCNQ)(3) (Ln=Pr, Nd; N-N=1,10-phe nanthroline, dipyridylamine; x=2, 4) and Ln(N-N)(4)(TCNQ)(4) are isolated. The former have only TCNQ anions neutralizing the lanthanide charge, while the latter exhibit electronic delocalization, as reflected by their semicon ducting behavior. (C) 2001 Elsevier Science B.V.
