Abstract
A new species of Jerusalem cricket, Stenopelmatus monahansensis Stidham and Stidham, is described from western Texas. This new species resembles and a ppears to be closely related to the geographically nearest species of Steno pelmatus, S. mescaleroensis Tinkham 1979 from eastern New Mexico. This new Stenopelmatus species does not appear to be common and may be restricted to the dune and sandy areas around Monahans, Texas.
