Abstract
Aldehydes were cleanly and chemoselectively protected by treatment with ter
t-butylchlorodimethylsilane and imidazole. The resulting 0-tert-butylditnet
hylsilylimidazolyl aminals were deblocked under mild conditions by employin
g 9:1 CH3CN-49% HF.
