Abstract
Electron-impact ionization cross sections have been measured for the h ydrogenlike ions of molybdenum, dysprosium, gold, and bismuth at selec ted electron energies between 1.3 and 3.9 times threshold. The cross s ections were obtained from x-ray measurements of the equilibrium ioniz ation balance in an electron beam ion trap. The measured cross section s agree with recent relativistic distorted-wave calculations that incl ude both the Moeller interaction and exchange.
