Gv. Khaldeev et al., CATHODIC TREATMENT OF THE SURFACE OF IRON-BASED METAL-GLASS BAND IN SULFURIC ELECTROLYTE, Protection of metals, 33(4), 1997, pp. 349-352
The effect of heat treatment of the alloy 78Fe-1Cu-3.5Nb-13.5Si-4B on
its corrosion-electrochemical characteristics in 0.5 M sulfuric acid s
olution, i.e., the potential dependence of the dissolution rate, criti
cal passivation current, passive dissolution rate, and reaction order
in hydrogen ions, were investigated electrochemically. The structure a
nd morphology of the alloy were examined with optical and electronic m
icroscopies and x-ray analysis. The hydrogen overpotential and corrosi
on rate were found to drop abruptly on transition from amorphous to fi
ne-grained structure. An attempt to explain the results was made. The
results are considered within the soliton theory.
