The present paper deals with the kinetics of anhydrous FeCl2 hydrolysi
s in gas phase, the hydrogen generating step in the thermochemical cyc
les of Fe-Cl family. The temperature and water feed flow rate dependen
ce on the reaction rate, within the range 853-893 K and 5-16 cm(3)/s i
s presented. The initial reaction rates were measured, a formal kineti
c equation was derived and the kinetic parameters were estimated.
