Abstract
The syntheses of 4 different fused imidazoles bearing a 2,5-dimethoxyp henyl group or a pyridyl group are reported. All the heterocycles, exc ept 2a, display positive inotropic activity. Some are approximately eq uipotent with sulmazole, and the imidazo[2,1-b]benzothiazole that bear s a 4-pyridyl group is the most active of whole series.
