S. Goral et al., POSTTRANSPLANTATION LYMPHOPROLIFERATIVE DISORDER IN A RENAL-ALLOGRAFTRECIPIENT, American journal of kidney diseases, 30(2), 1997, pp. 301-307
As a complication of immunosuppressive therapy, solid organ and bone m
arrow transplant recipients have an increased risk of developing post
transplant lymphoproliferative disorder (PTLD). Epstein-Barr virus (EB
V) infection and the degree of immunosuppression have been identified
as risk factors for the development of this complication, The clinical
presentation includes a spectrum of disorders ranging from a benign i
nfectious mononucleosis-like syndrome with fever and cervical adenopat
hy to multiorgan failure leading to death, Although, T-cell lesions ha
ve been described, PTLD is usually associated with a polyclonal or mon
oclonal B-cell proliferation, In this report, we present a renal trans
plant recipient with a perirenal mass diagnosed as PTLD. (C) 1997 by t
