Risky driving is a major contributing factor in adolescent injuries an
d deaths, particularly for young males. In the present study, the rela
tionship between personality characteristics and increased crash risk
was investigated by comparing scores of high-and low risk drivers on t
he Personality Research Form ana the Jackson Personality Inventory. Th
e role of personality factors in accident risk is discussed in terms o
f different theoretical accounts of adolescent risk-taking. (C) 1997 T
