Abstract
A series of objections are discussed to the use of symmetrical toleran ce intervals in ring tests as part of a procedure for laboratory asses sment. Instead, a modified, asymmetrical tolerance interval is introdu ced which takes these objections into consideration. A modified z-scor e is proposed corresponding to the modified tolerance interval.
