Liquidus projection surface, Scheil reaction scheme of phase equilibri
a with liquid, isothermal sections at 1100 and 1050 degrees C and 13 i
sopleths were elaborated in the Al-AlCo-AlNi ternary subsystem. Differ
ential thermal analyses, magnetothermal analyses, light microscopy and
xray diffraction analyses were applied in this investigation, electro
n microscopy images performed in other investigations on identical sam
ples confirm the phase identification. The liquidus surface of this sy
stem is dominated by the formation of the ternary quasicrystalline dec
agonal phase, which is formed from a critical tie line. 9 four-phase e
quilibria with the liquid are determined, 2 four-phase equilibria in t
he solid state are included in the presentation.
