Abstract
Reaction of [Pt(cod)Cl-2] (cod = cycloocta-1,5-diene) with [NEt4](2)[a nti-B18H20] or with [syn-B18H22] and tmnda (tmnda = N,N,N',N'-tetramet hylnaphthalene-1,8-diamine) resulted in the generation of [Pt(anti-B18 H20)(2)](2-) or [Pt(syn-B18H20)(2)](2-) dianions, for which intramolec ular steric crowding imposes rigid slab structures, and which have unu sual intimately packed anion-layer structures in their salts in the so lid state.
