Zj. Zhang et al., SYNTHESIS, STRUCTURE AND LUBRICATING PROPERTIES OF DIALKYLDITHIOPHOSPHATE-MODIFIED MO-S COMPOUND NANOCLUSTERS, Wear, 209(1-2), 1997, pp. 8-12
This paper reports the preparation and structure characterization of d
ialkyldithiophosphate (DDP) modified Mo-S compound nanoclusters by a c
hemical method and identified by UV-Vis absorption spectra, FTIR, XPS,
and P-31 NMR. Mo-S compound nanocluster as an additive in paraffin oi
l is found to significantly reduce wear and friction of the steel ball
s in a four-ball test. When the Mo/S/DDP mole ratio is equal to 2:3:2,
the nanocluster has the smallest wear-scar area and friction coeffici
ent. The effect of different components in the Mo-S nanocluster on lub
ricating properties is discussed. (C) 1997 Elsevier Science S.A.
