Abstract
XANES S K- and ELNES Ti L-23-edges of TiS2 and LiTiS2 are studied by m eans of multiple scattering simulations and band structure calculation s. Semi-metallic nature of TiS2 is clarified as well as the important role of sulfur, which was before this work believed to be a spectator in the intercalation process.
