G. Conti et al., EXCESS MOLAR ENTHALPIES AND EXCESS MOLAR HEAT-CAPACITIES OF (CHLOROFORM PLUS TETRAHYDROFURAN PLUS CYCLOHEXANE) AT THE TEMPERATURE 298.15 K, Journal of Chemical Thermodynamics, 29(8), 1997, pp. 865-877
Excess molar enthalpies and excess molar hear capacities at T = 298.15
K were determined for {xCHCl(3) + (1-x)c-(CH2)(4)O or c-C6H12} and fo
r {x(1)CHCl(3) + x(2)c-(CH2)(4)O + (1 - x(1) - x(2))c-C6H12}. Both exp
erimental properties were represented by a Redlich-Kister type equatio
n. The large negative values of the excess enthalpies and the positive
values of the excess heat capacities observed in the ternary composit
ion domain are mainly determined by the specific interaction between c
hloroform and tetrahydrofuran. The properties of the ternary system we
re poorly reproduced by combining the information of the parent binary
mixtures using empirical rules. They were, however, better described
by semi-empirical equations such as the Wang, UNIQUAC, and UNIFAC meth
ods. (C) 1997 Academic Press Limited.
