The standard model of particle physics is tremendously successful. It
has a precise mathematical framework and describes almost all physics.
But the standard model does not answer some of the most fundamental q
uestions, such as the origin of the mass, the origin of CP violation,
etc. To answer these questions new physics beyond the standard model i
s needed. In this article we describe briefly the effective Lagrangian
which is a model independent approach to physics beyond the standard
model. We give a brief review of some of the work being done in this a
pproach and summarize the work I have involved.
