Sc. Brown, CHEST PAIN AND COCAINE USE IN 18-YEAR-OLD TO 40-YEAR-OLD PERSONS - A RETROSPECTIVE STUDY, Applied nursing research, 10(3), 1997, pp. 136-142
This study examined the incidence of chest pain and cocaine use in 18
to 30 year olds who were seen in a public inner city emergency departm
ent. The medical records of a convenience sample of 386 subjects were
reviewed during a 6 month period. Results revealed a significant diffe
rences in physiological, diagnostic, and patient history data associat
ed with chest pain and cocaine use. These data that highlight the clin
ical features of cocaine users can be used as a profile for the manage
ment of cocaine-related cardiovascular problems. (C) 1997 by W.B. Saun
