Optical resolution of ethylenebis(4,5,6,7-tetrahydro-1-indenyl) comple
xes of zirconium and hafnium was performed by using cellulose tris(3,5
-dimethylphenylcarbamate) coated on silica-gel (Chiralcel OD) as a chi
ral stationary phase for HPLC. The biphenyl-2,2'-diolate complexes wer
e completely resolved with the highest separation factor. The isolated
enantiomerically pure hafnocenes were applied for the asymmetric cycl
opolymerization of 1,5-hexadiene.
